Some snippets I found interesting:
Page 1:Each mini-game is designed to exercise a set of skills, ranging from footwork to the strength of your swing. The choice is yours to create a well balanced character, or one who specializes in a specific area such as devastating serves.
...
Your skills are grouped into four major categories: Footwork, Serving, Volleying and Strokes. You can choose to focus in one category or create an overall rounded character.
So you shouldn't be able to build the perfect player. We'll see how much impact this variety actually has ingame.
Soon you'll start playing in tournaments against other professionals. Watch your stamina and be sure to take breaks. If you don't, you could suffer an injury and miss a big tournament.
Injuries? I wonder if this will happen in Live games too; probably not.
Court games are special multiplayer versions of the court games. They are specially weighted and balanced to provide hours of fun for up to four players in the same room.
For a preview of multiplayer minigames you can check some
youtube videos.Page 2: I don't think you'll find a measurable difference between the men's and women's matches in terms of performance and gameplay. I think the key differences are in the animations.
This is a bit of a let down, one would expect that wta players at least serve/hit a bit slower and maybe don't move as quick. If it's just an optical change the missed the chance to provide the variety that could have easily been added to the game while making it a bit more realistic, too.
The contents of the game are exactly the same on both platforms. The difference is that the PS3 version has support for the SIXAXIS controller and the Xbox 360 has Live! support.
...
Much of the attention was focused on making the most realistic-looking tennis game possible and including gameplay using the SIXAXIS controller.
Telling from the responses this got on some message boards, customers are thrilled by this one. I mean, when you put down 600 bucks for the hardware, you should at least be able to control your player by exercising your wrists instead of your thumbs. It's much more tennis like too.
No online gaming is a small price to pay.
We have our classic modes (Exhibition and Tournament) where you can play singles or doubles matches in Ranked Match, where players can compete against other players worldwide for ranking on the Leaderboard).
Ranked matches for doubles which can be played from 4 consoles, connected through the internet is something we have waited for quite some time. It's not easy to find somebody who can come over, to play Topspin 2 doubles matches for most people.
You can also host or join tournaments with your friends in Player Match.
Not sure what "Player Match" is; being able to set up online tournaments sounds useful.
Additionally, we are introducing VT:TV, which is an enhanced spectator mode that allows you to watch other matches live in real-time over Xbox Live.
This is one of the most interesting new features in my opinion. So far you had this mostly in first person shooters, some racing games and a few real time strategy games of course. Might help making tennis video games more popular with the e-sports crowd.
Shack: Can I take created players online?
Christopher Kaminski: You most certainly can.
Another important decision.
I believe the key to Virtua Tennis's success is that "simple but deep" recipe.
Hard to beat, if done correctly.
